The Conference of The Birds

The conference of the birds

The Conference of the Birds is a timeless Sufi Allegory that speaks to the soul’s journey toward divine truth. Written by the Persian poet Farid ud-Din Attar, it tells the story of a group of birds who set out in search of their king, the Simurgh — A symbol of God, truth, and self-realization. Guided by the wise hoopoe, they travel through seven valleys, each representing a stage of spiritual transformation: yearning, love, knowledge, detachment, unity, wonder, and finally, annihilation in the Beloved. Many fall away along the path, unable to bear the tests of ego and illusion, until only a few reach the end — only to discover that the Simurgh they sought is none other than their own reflection. This poetic masterpiece reminds us that the divine is not found elsewhere, but within the depths of our own being, waiting to be unveiled through love, surrender, and self-knowledge.

The conference of the birds

Following the success of Journey of Love: Layla and Majnun, Zendeh Delan proudly presents its next major program, The Conference of the Birds, a journey through the mystical valleys of the soul, inspired by the timeless Persian poem of Farid ud-Din Attar. Through music, Sama’, and poetic narration, this presentation invites audiences to experience the path of love, unity, and self-realisation in an immersive, transcendent setting.
